Our History
On
Easter Sunday 1979 a new church was established in Nags
Head by Evangelist David Daniels. The Outer Banks
Worship Center was grown from a tent meeting to a strong
congregation that ministers to thousands of tourists who
vacation on the Outer Banks. A unique sanctuary built
in the shape of a large boat houses a growing
congregation. Due to its distinctive shape, the
building has been featured in many national
periodicals.
People called the church "The Ark".
Pastor Daniels was born in Wanchese, NC, one of fifteen
children to be born to Malcolm and Maude Daniels. His
passion for souls has taken him around the world. That
passion was contagious as the Ark has become a district
leader in world missions giving.
In 2003, Pastor Jim Lewis became the Senior Pastor. By
2005, the church was functioning as two separate
churches from one building - an English Congregation and
a Spanish Congregation led by Pastor Roga Compean. The
need to become one church became the heart and passion
of both Pastors and congregations. In April, 2005 the
two became one and the church took on a new name that
represented the church as a whole:
The Ark International Church.
